Decker Truck Line Employees Recognized at IMTA Best of Best Awards Luncheon

(Fort Dodge, Iowa) - Decker Truck Line, Inc. received recognition at the Iowa Motor Truck Association's (IMTA) "Best of the Best" awards luncheon held September 19, 2012 in Des Moines, IA at IMTA's Annual Management Conference.

Gary Northrop was named the Dispatcher of the Year. Gary, who has been associated with Decker since 1982, drove for many years before transferring into the office. He currently is a fleet manager for the reefer-van division. In 1990 he was named IMTA's Driver of the Year.

Decker Truck Line received the 2012 Fleet Safety Award for Truckload Carriers, 10-13 million mile division. Jim Wilkins, Vice President of Safety & Human Resources, accepted this award on behalf of Decker Truck Line, Inc. Through this annual safety contest, Iowa carriers are recognized for their outstanding safety efforts. The number of accident-free miles driven, overall safety ratings and established safety programs within the company are all considered in the judging.

Other recognitions included:

  • Michael Erritt, Director of Reefer-Van Operations, for participating in IMTA's 2012 Leadership Class.
  • Dean Filmer, Reefer-Van driver, for being a member of IMTA's 2012 Road Team
  • Rodney Knapp, Reefer-Van driver, was recognized for being nominated as Outstanding Professional Driver Award.
  • Stan Giddings, Flatbed driver, was recognized for being nominated as Outstanding Professional Driver Award.
  • Jeremiah Rossmanith, Director of Maintenance, accepted the Fleet Maintenance Award-Company on behalf of the company.
  • Tyson Vance, Trailer Shop Manager, was recognized for being nominated as Outstanding Fleet Maintenance Professionals Award.

Decker Truck Line and B-T, Inc. Recognized for Safety

Decker Truck Line, Inc. and B-T, Inc. both were presented with a Gold Safety award by Great West Casualty Company as part of the 2011 National Safety Awards Program.

Decker Truck Line, Inc. and B-T, Inc. both were presented with a Gold Safety award by Great West Casualty. The National Safety Awards program recognizes carriers in similar operations (truckload and less than truckload) with awards based on their year-end preventable accident results. Carriers are eligible to receive a Platinum, Gold, Silver, or Participatory award. This past year, the National Safety Awards program drew over 625 participants from across the country.

Decker Truck Line, Inc. receives 2011 Carrier of Excellence Award From American Cast Iron Pipe

On April 27, 2012, Decker Truck Line, Inc. was awarded the 2011 Carrier of Excellence Award from American Cast Iron Pipe. Scott Norton, Traffic and Transportation Manager for American Cast Iron Pipe, presented the award to Karl Westfall, Bessemer Terminal Manager. Decker Truck Line, Inc. received 2nd place out of 25 carriers in the Small to Medium size carrier bracket. Karl extends a big "Thank You" to the operations team and especially to the drivers who have earned this award through their outstanding commitment to safety and service. Karl also shared that he wants the number one spot for 2012. Thanks again for the great effort from the Bessemer, Alabama crew.

Hormel Presents 14th "Spirit of Excellence" Award to Decker Truck Line

On May 4, 2011, Decker Truck Line was awarded its 14th "Spirit of Excellence" award from Hormel Foods. Hormel Foods Corporation (NYSE: HRL) recently awarded certain suppliers with a 2010 "Spirit of Excellence" award for their roles in the company’s continuous improvement process throughout the past year. These suppliers are from a variety of areas including contractors, pork procurement, provisions, ingredients, packaging and transportation.

"The ‘Spirit of Excellence’ Awards recognize business partners that go above and beyond, making a positive impact on our business," said Melanie A. Faust, Director of Purchasing at Hormel Foods. "It’s an honor to present these awards as a way to show our appreciation to these outstanding suppliers." Suppliers who qualified for the Spirit of Excellence Award maintained a minimum supplier rating index score of 92 throughout a 12-month period. This score is determined by a universal measurement system that began in 1990 to ensure each supplier is held to the same standards. Don Decker Receives Patriotic Employer Award

The Patriotic Employer award was presented by Russ Goebel, ESGR, to Don Decker, President of the Decker Companies and Jim Wilkins, Vice-President/Safety & Human Resources, on Wednesday, March 23, 2011. Accepting the award on Mr. Decker’s behalf was Joe Fell, Senior Vice President. Keith Andrews of the 1133 Transport Company and driver for Decker Truck Line, nominated Don Decker and Jim Wilkins to receive recognition as a Patriotic Employer by ESGR (Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve).

"This award recognizes deserving employers whose support and good-will are critically important to retaining highly skilled and qualified members of our guard and reserve.
